Summer At The Mill
5th August 2014
We been at Cotes Mill now for almost six months, and it’s hard to believe the changes that have taken place. The first time I saw our new showroom there was a half-finished floor, half a staircase and builders everywhere!
Fast forward six months and there’s now over 30 large wall displays of our natural stone; beautiful, bespoke display units with further stone and porcelain tiles; an A frame stand containing our limestone and sandstone flagstone tiles and table displays of our English Limestones and Umbrian Limestone. We have also had the Tumbled Antiqued Ash Limestone laid at the front of the building interspersed with lavender and rosemary plants and the Dijon Tumbled Limestone has been laid in the courtyard to the rear.
During the past few weeks, whilst the weather has been so lovely and sunny, it’s been even more of a joy working in this beautiful setting. I went exploring the grounds at lunchtime, and took some photos of our stunning surroundings and wildlife.
The mill pond looks gorgeous in the sun, covered in lillypads. You can see one of our dovecotes in the background as well.
Our resident peacocks, peahens, doves and guinea fowl have enjoyed basking in the sunshine.
We’re also lucky enough to have some ducks and swans living on the mill pond. We have been monitoring the cygnets’ process since they were born and we can’t believe how quickly they have grown!
The Dijon Tumbled Limestone laid in the courtyard outside our office makes a great space to sit and relax at lunch time, with a view over the mill pond.
The Tumbled Antiqued Ash Limestone at the front of the building makes for a stunning entrance to the showroom. The bluey/grey colours of the stone are complemented perfectly by the purples of the lavender and the green/grey of the rosemary plants.
