Bruges

I recently visited Bruges for a short winter break. It is a beautiful place with interesting attractions and architecture, cobbled street, after street of chocolate shops, and the widest selection of beer you could ever imagine. We were there for the Christmas market which gave it a real festive feel and supping on gluhwein and hot chocolate confirmed Christmas is on its way.

Despite my over indulgence on local delights and Flemish cuisine, as well as a rather expensive curry one night, I still managed to live up to my reputation as a ‘Bore of Stone’ as my colleague Ruth kindly labelled us.

We stayed in a beautiful hotel called ‘Oud Huis De Peellaert’, a renovated mansion which coincidentally had the Bianco Carrara Marble throughout the reception and hall areas. We really do notice stone flooring and tiles everywhere we go! This choice of marble flooring is a luxurious product which exudes quality.

I took a photo with our new blog in mind from the top floor looking down the spiral staircase, not only do I think it looks great, but I think it is a good representation of natural stone. The features such as the veining and colour variation demonstrate the beauty of having marble flooring. Many people worry about variation in natural stone but I think seeing it installed and as a finished project confirms how beautiful it is.
