Almost There
21st January 2014
As renovations continue at Cotes Mill I thought I would share our progress and some more photographs.
The extension of the new Floors of Stone showroom is almost there and our new office which can be seen on the right hand side has also come a long way.
We have started tiling the displays for our natural stone tiles which will showcase a number of stones. Robert Booton of Hathern Tile has kindly donated his services to tile the displays and he is doing a great job. We will have larger displays of our most popular travertine, limestone, marble and slate tiles, with further display units showing our full range of travertine, limestone, marble, slate, quarry, basalt, quartzite and porcelain tiles.
The installation of the limestone spiral staircase is also underway. Each limestone step has been individually made and piece by piece it is being assembled. It really is a work of art, the stone mason has said it is like no other he has made before and described it as a ‘sculpture rather than a staircase’. It isn’t a quick process either, but we have captured the construction using time lapse photography so we can share a video of it once complete.
The showroom floor is looking fantastic. We tiled the whole area in our Light Jerusalem Tumbled limestone and we are thrilled with the outcome. The limestone is in keeping with the light, airy, natural look of the showroom and complements both the oak and stone staircases nicely. The photo shows the variation present in the limestone and when laid over a large area the true character and beauty of a natural stone floor is clear for all to see.
