“One of Them”
24th July 2014
As I am a new member of the Floors of Stone team I wanted to write my first blog on the beginning of my journey to becoming “One of Them” – previously named bores of stone.
I have only been here for a couple weeks, yet I have already learnt so much with the help of my colleagues, who have dealt very well with my daily bombard of questions. Who knew there was so much to know about flooring?!
Although there has been heaps to learn, I keep wanting to know more. I found it so interesting to find out how the stones are formed, and what makes them different to others. Also the colour variation and textures in each single square metre of each tile is extremely fascinating.
In the short time I’ve been at FOS I’ve planned which tiles I’d like once I get my own house. I find myself inspecting the floors everywhere I go, either admiring them or thinking what I might have used instead. I even caught myself checking what colour grout had been used; I didn’t even know what grout was a couple of weeks ago!
I have already picked out my favourite tile; The Jaipur Brushed Limestone which is a beautiful stone from India. I love the soft tones which blend throughout, from dusky greys, avocado greens to pale browns. The stone is smooth yet has a lot of texture too it, and if you look closely you’ll be able to see the glistening detail which I find most intriguing.
I’m feeling very positive about this new chapter, and already feel a part of the team, especially after my colleagues started chanting “one of us, one of us…” from that moment I knew I’d fit in just fine. (The constant supply of snacks in the office helps too!)
