Open plan flooring

23rd April 2025

By Will Margetts

Over the years we have had quite a few customers choose to lay the same flooring throughout their home. This allows them to achieve a cohesive finish that flows from room to room to create an open-plan feel to their property. I’ve included some of the different choices below in the hopes it gives you some inspiration.

Mill House Blend Limestone

Our Mill House Blend Limestone was used to great effect throughout the ground floor of this property in Leicestershire. The varied tones and tumbled nature of the Mill House Blend beautifully complement the oak beams adorning the uneven walls and ceilings in each room.

This project has turned out so wonderfully, and it’s been highly enjoyable watching it develop over the years. You can read more about this property in our blog post here.

Brushed Charcoal Limestone

Another Leicestershire property, this time opting for our Brushed Charcoal Limestone, which provides some contrast to the lightly coloured walls and furnishings. The beauty of using a larger limestone, like our Brushed Charcoal, is that it can be used both internally and externally, allowing you to continue the cohesion into your outside patio space.

The lighter grout is an excellent choice to accentuate the difference in colour between the floor and the walls, and it really ties the overall look together. You can read more about this project in our blog post here.

Chatsworth Oak Parquet

Our Planks & Parquet range is extremely popular for this application, with customers frequently choosing from this selection of flooring to cover the entirety of their downstairs areas. The warm tones and high-quality, tumbled finish of our Chatsworth Oak Parquet works wonderfully in this property, even pairing well with the contemporary furniture.

It really showcases how versatile neutral tones are, fitting seamlessly alongside browns, greens and blues used in different rooms – really demonstrating how you can have a seamless floor without each room feeling too similar.

Hopefully, this gives you some ideas as to how you can use flooring as the perfect base for an open plan property. If you think you’ve seen something you like, or would like to explore more of our carefully selected range of flooring, you can view our full product range here.
