The Honeymoon
23rd March 2015
Andrew and I were lucky enough to travel to Thailand for our honeymoon back in November 2014. We left two days after our wedding day and after a long journey it was finally time to relax. We had 12 nights at Villa Zolitude in Phuket, which I couldn’t recommend more highly. It was a spa resort amongst the hills and trees, a little off the beaten track but quiet and peaceful with so few guests it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The photo below sums up our time at this resort, sun bathing, reading, swimming, cocktails and relaxing.
We did venture out of the resort a few times, with trips to Old Phuket Town, an evening in Patong and a speedboat tour of the Phi Phi Islands which was a particular highlight. The below photo was taken from the speedboat and captured a storm in the distance during sunset.
This picture was the view from our room at sunrise on the day we departed Villa Zolitude.
We then moved on to the island of Koh Lanta for 5 nights at the spectacular Pimilai Resort. This resort was much larger with several pools and restaurants and whilst it was again situated in the hills it was also right on the beach front.
On arrival we were welcomed with this honeymoon treat.
The food at Pimilai was amazing with fresh seafood brought daily I sampled it all, soft shell crab, lobster, shrimp, tuna, squid, sea bass, scallops, it was all incredible.
After 17 luxurious nights it was time to head home but it was certainly a holiday to remember and we are hugely grateful to our family and friends who kindly contributed to ensure we had a once in a lifetime trip.
