Reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis, the inspiration behind the name of these tiles, the Raku Aurora contains an explosion of jewel-like tones including emerald, crimson, violet and copper. Traditional Japanese techniques have been used to achieve the rich tones and give a vibrancy to the tiles. The sudden cooling of the tiles, once they have been removed from the kiln, causes crazing, which dances across the surface of the tiles, enhancing the different textures and tones in the Raku. Finished with a gloss glaze, these tiles would create a stunning splashback in a kitchen or as a statement in a bathroom.
